Great was definitely surprised when the mariachi’s started to rattle to the tune of Happy Birthday!
Our family tradition is dinner and a movie (or two) on Christmas Eve to celebrate's Great's Christmas Birthday. It started when the kids were small and funds were sparse. Disney dollar movies and 99 cent burgers were an anticipated delectable treat! Over the years, as funds allowed, we expanded to various establishments of fine dining with linen napkins and the works.
Now, with grandchildren (and great-grandkids for Great), we've compromised to all eating together and then those that can to continue on to the movie. We've had great years with Bond and Narnia and countless Disney Princesses.
This year, for Great Papa, we opted for the IMAX 3-D TRON. However, though we ALL enjoy the 3-D, we'll let Great choose her own movie choice for next year.
And, it's a safe bet that the fiesta dinner will be a repeat: Our family LOVES Mexican for our family dinners!
Our INSPIRATIONAL FAMILY FOCUS is from an address by Elder L Tom Perry:
